As of November 30, 2003, Saurer is selling XALOY Europe, part of the Surface Technology
business division, to O.M.G. S.p.A. and Spreafico Group in Italy.
As part of Saurer¨s planned divestment of Surface Technology, all the activities of
Xaloy in Europe are being sold to O.M.G. S.p.A. and Spreafico Group as of November 30, 2003.
The selling price corresponds to the book value of these operations.
With 183 employees, Xaloy achieves sales so far in Europe of about CHF 30 million.
Following the sale, all the employees of Xaloy Olten (CH) and Brno (CZ) will be taken over
by the acquirer. Under the name of Bernex Bimetall, the
group will supply a large range of cylinders and screws in Europe from Switzerland,
Italy and the Czech Republic.
The sale of the European operations of Xaloy is the first step in Saurer¨s planned
divestment of Surface Technology. In future Saurer will concentrate on its Textile Solutions
operations and on the expansion of its Transmission Systems division.
Xaloy is the world's leading manufacturer of process systems and components for plastics
molding and extrusion machinery.
Newbury, Piret acted as financial advisor to Saurer AG in the sale of XALOY Europe.
